PepsiCo wrote:'ve checked out a lot of G&P (they're quickly becoming my favorite mainly for the fact they specialize in M4 and M4 variants :P ) but I'm unable to confirm if these have a working bolt catch. Like when you run out of BB's the bolt locks back and you can't fire unless you release the catch and things like seeing the piston or whatever it is moving through open bolt systems.
The only two electric ar15 systems that have a working bolt catch are the Mauri next gen EBB's and the Systema PTW's. However the Mauris start at 500USD http://echigoya-guns.com/guns/index.php ... duct_id=51 and systemas alot more.
All gas Ar's should have a working bolt catch, but as every else has said that would be a bad idea for a first gun.

PepsiCo wrote:At this point, I'm not TOO bothered by which company makes it as long as it satisfies my need for realism and that it is reliable and made of some sort of metal. But drooling over which gun I would love to have aside, I would really love to come out this Sunday if I was able to get my hands on some club gear. I have nothing in terms of what is suited for airsoft like goggles and vests and gloves and the list goes on but I understand that I can rent the basics like gun/ammo/goggles.
Yea $20 will get you a gun, ammo and safety goggles for the day.

PepsiCo wrote:In short, if you guys have goggles or glasses that can fit over my prescription ones, can borrow a gun/ammo (I could bring what's left of my .2 bbs ~ about 1500~2000 shots) and other necessities, if there are any, I would really love to come out for a game with you guys on the 14th this Sunday if it is still on.
Wont be able to use thouse bbs at our greenfield as our lease requies us to use biodegradable ones, but you can use them at cqb.

PepsiCo wrote:Also I own a WE M9 B.Burton, could I bring that out with me too? I don't have a holster or anything but maybe I could borrow a chrono to see how well it shoots and what not and see if I could use it in future club games.

No reason why you cant, should be under our fps limit as long as its not co2 powered.

PepsiCo wrote:Thanks for all the help so far guys! Feels good I can get some of these questions out of my head :D

No problem.
Also if your going to buy anything Mauri check out http://echigoya-guns.com/ as they are usually a fair bit cheaper due to being based in Japan and http://www.wgcshop.com/ is another good store.

Re: New/Keen/Many Questions :D

Ok so I keep having quick looks at what kind of AEG I want before I start researching their pros and cons and have come across a few that caught my eyes. Still mostly from G&P and KA:

1) G&P Sentry (MAGUL) - http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/aeg/g-p-hong ... l-aeg.html
2) G&P RAS I - http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/gandp-m4-ras ... ition.html
3) KA something rather (For the life of me, I just can't seem to find it again) but it looked about the same as the G&P RAS.

They are indeed ranked from my most liked so far (with only little to no research). I've sacrificed the working bolt-catch feature because well, I'd rather play games with it rather than shoot off a few rounds around the house and break in walls and glasses.

So, any thoughts on the 2 G&P I've linked here?

Also who do I get in contact with to organize rental gear and what not for Sunday?

Re: New/Keen/Many Questions :D

Cant speak for the two G&P`s you linked, but I have a G&P Magpul M4 MOE. Very solid, hardly any wobble. Feel free to check it out at a game if you like.

When it comes to G&P ar's all internals are pretty much the same model to model, except inner barrel length and battery location. So basically it comes to what ever externals you like / want.
Another think to note is that they usually crono at around 370~380fps so they will need the spring replaced or cut before they can be used.

Also id definitely get a G&P over a KA.

G&P just +1 on my ladder of awesomeness.

I guess the body/barrel length of the gun doesn't matter too much for CQB/Outdoor play right? Except for the obvious a 14.5" barrel is more likely to get caught on things than a 10.5" for CQB. Question here is, if I get the shorter 10.5" external barrel model of a gun, it won't affect outdoor playing, right? So long as the FPS matches up.

And if you are there on Sunday, and I am there also, I would really like to see how it performs!

A nice, solid M4 - my flatmate has one.

There are two parts you'll need to replace:

The bevel gear as the default only has two stops positions. This is a problem for our semi-auto restricted AEGS.
http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/shs-steel-or ... -gear.html

And the hop unit. The default will preform okay for a while but eventually it will not hold it's setting. Recommend a Madbull Ultimate Hop Unit.

Oh wow, thanks for the advice on parts! Also is your flatmate by any chance going to the game on Sunday? I would much like to see it for real!

Re: New/Keen/Many Questions :D

So I've been looking around a bit more and came across this AEG:
http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/star-m4-ras2 ... t-aeg.html

Any thoughts on that? I couldn't really find any reviews on it. But it has a working bolt catch, unlike the G&P Magpul Sentry I've been thinking about getting.

Re: New/Keen/Many Questions :D

Avoid like the plague.

For your first gun, you really want to get something that is well known to be reliable and of decent build quality. The mere fact that there's almost no info online about guns from STAR would lead me towards something else.
