Combat machines are ok as starter guns. The tan ones look pretty shitty since they're plastic so I'd go for a black one.
If you end up getting into airsoft for good, you'll end up replacing the combat machine though. G&P make some good VLTOR guns (or whatever they're called). You'll just need to get a better hop unit eventually (for both guns) because the ones that come in them tend to start unwinding after a few games.
