NZ Tax from customs?

Ok so I'm starting to get serious about getting my G&P Sentry in from ehobbyasia.com and I realised, there is usually an import fee from customs or having to pay GST on imported goods.
I was wondering if anyone has had any bad/good experiences with NZ customs from importing airsoft?
My total cart from ehobbyasia.com adds up to $470 NZD or $400 USD. Will I be correct to assume that IF I get charged for GST, I would be paying the 15% of ~$70.50 NZD, totalling my bill to $540.50 NZD or there abouts? Or do I have to pay a customs fee too?

Unfortunately, when you are hit with GST, this is usually followed by a number of other smaller charges. Though, I can't say how much exactly. It shouldn't be much, maybe another $20-$30.

You might not been flagged with GST at all, but I would brace for it.

Re: NZ Tax from customs?

You should have no problems with customs regarding airsoft, as long as all guns have been semied.

Only duties / fees you have to pay is gst which is $38 + 15% of the order value including shipping.
So in your case assuming the $470 includes shipping your looking at $580ish.
They usually charge gst all packaged valued over $400, although some slip thought without getting charged.

Re: NZ Tax from customs?

Thanks guys!
Just waiting to get paid so I can order it.

Also while I'm here, do you think this battery http://www.airsoftpark.com/firefox-1600 ... -9174.html and this charger http://www.airsoftpark.com/1008g-poly-b ... -2050.html will be ok for this gun http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/gandp-sentry ... arrel.html also these mags http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/king-arms-68 ... -5pcs.html (for the life of me I could not find black ones, but mag colour doesn't bother me too much)

This might be of interest, tells you exactly what you'll be paying if they decide to charge you. When I got my SCAR I was up for something like $150, and they held it for ages, but then they cleared it without charging me, so it's luck of the draw really.

Re: NZ Tax from customs?

Knowing my luck, I'll be slapped with customs fees from everyone else who imported airsoft this year into NZ :?
Thanks though, hopefully they won't charge me too much.

I'm all ready to buy my gun from ehobby asia but waiting to see if anyone can confirm if those batteries/charger/mags will work for the gun.

But before I do, can anyone tell me anything about King Arms vs G&P and specifically this gun?

Thank you

Re: NZ Tax from customs?

Battery looks like it should be good, although I would recommend converting the connectors to deans connectors when you get it (easy to do, we can help). You might be able to get the battery a little cheaper if you buy it from Alroys.

The charger looks like it would do the trick, but how are you going to power it? It does not appear to come with a wall socket power cord. Also, if you're going to be getting a cheap charger (or really any charger + lipo), be sure to stick around while the lipo charges. They can be quite volatile.

Both those guns look good, just remember to grab that bevel gear if you go for the G&P Sentry

Re: NZ Tax from customs?

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinteresting. I hadn't noticed the lack of a power supply until you mentioned it.
Am I correct to assume Alroys runs a battery selling store or he has some second hand? I just want something that's cheap, run it for long so I don't have to look to buy more batteries just for one day's use.
Anyone know where I could get a nice 7.4 LiPo and charger for cheaps?

Ah awesome! I'm guessing that's Alroys trademe pages?
I will definitely be looking into those as they will be cheaper than getting from elsewhere.

Re: NZ Tax from customs?

before I hit the 'Purchase' option for my gun, could you help me find a bevel gear from ehobby that will work with the G&P? The one linked a long time ago has been out of stock forevers and evers.

Re: NZ Tax from customs?

That should do the trick

Also, I'm not sure if it has been mentioned yet, but make sure you request the gun be made capable of semi automatic fire ONLY. If the don't semi it you will have more to worry about in customs than just GST.
