2014 Heads up please.

Hey guys!

I'd appreciate a 2014 'heads up' regarding new laws and importing etc...

Is our beloved sport now somewhat threatened? Or is this change just making clubs that much 'tighter' and better in relationship to import licenses etc?

I'm a 'casual' player - and recently have been out-of-action for a few months finishing my degree, sorry I haven't had a chance to come out.
At the same time my M4 gear box just started having problems. After a service - it's not doing much. (I was going to approach a club armorer - for a repair or fresh import)

So in summary...

A) I'm on the market for a new gun / or a repair - upgrade - who should I message?
B) I fear things may have changed quite a bit since last time I came out (October) - in regards to laws for "importing", "full-auto" and "pistol grips?" wtf??? :?:

(also FYI I have no interest in converting my gun to full-auto - I'm just curious about that one as I've seen posts all over the place.)

Anyone wanna be a 'sport' and gimmie a heads up?

P.S - I'm not a member of TAG - but applied a few weeks before my busy season started - still keen to get that underway. :)

= be nice!

If you're after a repair or upgrade, I'm sure someone in the club can have a look at it. If you can be a little more descriptive of the "problems" your gearbox is having, we might be able to suss it out and recommend fixes/parts.

As far as pistol grips go, that relates to real steel so has no real bearing on our goods. For importing, you do indeed need a permit to import guns. Parts do not require the permit.

If you're wanting to import a gun, you need to give a "special reason" when applying for your permit. The special reasons can be found at the bottom of this page.

As none of us have imported a gun yet, we are all pretty hazy on how this will actually work, so we may not be able to give as many answers as we would like.

NOTE: In addition, for all applications, need to demonstrate the item is not readily available in New Zealand.

that's a gotcha. If someone has them in stock, you'll need to buy from them.

The system we have in place requires a letter from me saying you're an ASNZ member. With this letter demonstrating your special purpose for import you have a much better chance of getting your permit approved.

One day when you're a TAG member I'll help you out.

A TAG member, not ASNZ.
