Re: Best gun brands
Hi fwedman.
Tokyo Marui make excellent guns, and are generally regarded the best out of the box guns. However, it all depends what your budget is, what type of gun you like etc. Tokyo Marui don't make versions of some guns, and in some cases what they offer is priced so much higher than the competition (which is usually a copy of TM) that it's hard to justify the spend. You need to narrow down your criteria, and then look at reviews.
We would also recommend really getting into the sport first. Have a play with as many different weapon types to see which style you enjoy the most, what suits the field you're going to playing at etc. The added advantages of this is that you not only don't end up spending money on something you may end up hating, but by being a member of an ASNZ affiliated club you have the option of applying for an import permit, reducing the cost quite substantially of some of the higher end guns such as the TM next gens.
This forum is also full of other people asking exactly the same question, so have a read through some of their threads too. This will help you get an idea of how their stories developed and what they ended up getting and may give you more ideas of which direction to head with your search.

Re: Best gun brands
Cool thanks. What's a good site to look at TM guns so I can have a look for reference?
Re: Best gun brands
Thanks
Re: Best gun brands
delete this if im digging up and old thread but is CYMA a good brand for its quality and would it last a fair while?
Re: Best gun brands
CYMA is one of the cheap chinese brands BUT they do make some good stuff. I can say the M14s, AKs, MP5s are good.
I think they are re-branding to "Golden Eagle" or something similar and have cloned the TM870 shotgun which seems to work decently from what I've seen (so far).

Yeah i was looking at one of their AKs (AK 74m) and have researched it so if i get into it thats probably a decent start
Re: Best gun brands
