Tokyo Marui GBBR M4 "MWS" Guide

Introduction
I get a lot of questions around TM M4 MWS rifles, parts, upgrades and builds etc so I will be building a guide in this thread. I'm not going to tell you where to find the products, stock levels change and you can all figure out how to google stuff. As far as the guns go, you can get them locally are Zone or import them directly. I just need to say; they're not all called "MWS" as that only refers to one particular model; the "Modular Weapon System" which was the first one they released. From that point on, most people refer to them as MWS's even through they have a MK18 or something. They all actually run based on the TM "ZET System" but for all intents and purposes we can call them MWS's or M-Dubs or TMM4's or just whatever.

All MWS platforms are very customizable; with almost any build being possible from any starting gun. If bought brand new; all these guns will function the same! Tokyo Marui now allegedly use 250mm inner barrels for all their Gas M4s now, making their stock performance exactly the same. The older versions (2+ years ago) had a few differences which I can't be bothered explaining because if you don't have an ancient MWS then it is irrelevant. Now in terms of performance they have all been standardized.

The main decision to make when buying an MWS is aesthetics and FPS upgradeability for example the longer barrel ones are much simpler to increase FPS near the 1.63 (420 fps on 0.2g bb) limit than the shorter ones but this is something I will go into later.

I recommend importing these from https://impulse101.jp/ which can be done easily by completing an NZ arms import permit (more in this thread HERE

Re: Tokyo Marui GBBR M4 "MWS" Guide

There are about 10-14 MWS's at TAG now, and take it from me...this is all you need to do for performance. You can use it stock at lower FPS, but if you want to run a long range high accuracy setup (which basically everyone does) then you need to do the following along with using 0.4g bbs. Heavy BBs are expensive but you will use a LOT less of them so it's actually not so bad. The alopex 0.4g bbs have a bad reptuation but they're not bad if you are careful loading the magazines and don't squash them.

The main difference is the outer barrel, the longer outer barrel allows the longer tightbore which means that you (by coincidence) can get that magical near-420 limit on 0.4g and near-350 limit on 0.25g. If you get a short barrel version, than if you want to run forest fps, than you must modify the bolt.

(the toothpick goes inside the stock hop nub, this makes it hard enough to push down on the hop rubber to lift heavy bbs at higher FPS - don't hate... it's actually extremely accurate)

This is pretty much all you need. This is the ONLY performance upgrades I have installed in my gun, and in fact most people's guns at TAG already. You don't need to replace anything else unless it breaks. You can do things to increase or decrease recoil, but they usually come at a cost of making something else worse.
