Uprading battery from 8.4v to 9.6v Good or bad???

Hey Guys

Seen on ASNZ and other sites that upgrading the battery can solve jamming issues and increase rate of fire. What are the pros and cons of doing this?

Thanks

The voltage has more of an affect on rate of fire, not really needed in these semi only days; you want to be increase the milli-amps, as this is what generally affects the jaming. Its when the batteries get low, that they tend to jam... low mah batteries, get lower faster.

Please bare in mind that folk have differing opinions on this though.

I found my AK use to jam on its old battery all the time. But i got a new one made up at BatteryMasta. I went from a 1300mAh to a 2000mAh and have only had one jam from when it got low.

Yeah the above points are all good but I use 8.4v 1100maH batts and they normally last me at least 2 weeks per bat. So there is no need to worry to much about them.

Just a question on charging batteries, do you need to discharge them first?

I know that you don't have to discharge ni-cads but you do for the other type. (Sorry, forgot the name :? )

Ni-Cad's have a charge memory and NimH don't. Therefore discharging is only required for Nickel Cadium (Ni-Cad).

there is lots of differing opinion on the "memory effect" and discharging bats. I've read that there has been no actual "memory effect" in commercial batteries and what most people thing is memory effect is actually just an old cell.

Most cells have a limited number of full charges and a far greater number of partial charges. I think bats need to be replace every few years though.

Also need to bear in mind the size of the battery you can get depends very much on the gun you have. MP5Ks will unlikely get anything over 1400mAh
