How to charge LiPo battery??

Hey guys, i just got my G36k and it seems to be in good order.
However i cant exactly check without a charged battery, so i was wondering if anyone else had a helpful suggestion on what setting to charge it on?
Ive got a 7.4V with 1200mAh and i have the "IMAx B6 LiPro balance charger" Which ive heard a few people have.
So if you guys could throw in any suggestions, that would be great!
thanks

Re: How to charge LiPo battery??

I've found a manual for the charger that should help you out - http://www.heliguy.com/i/ImaxB6manual.pdf

I'm fairly certain I've got the same charger, so here goes:

Plug both cables on the battery in. The LiPo should have the balance cable, which is the white wide one that has 1-5 pin holes on it. This one plus in to the right side of the charger. Then plug in the deans end (the end that you plug your gun into).

Get it turned on, and hit the "Batt Type" button (far left) untill you reach the LiPo type. Once that's up, hit "Enter" (far right button).

From there, you can choose the rate at which you can charge your battery. The digit on the bottom left should be flashing, and if it isn't, hit "Enter" again. Choose the rate to charge at by pressing the forward and back buttons (middle left and middle right). I think a good rate to charge that battery at would be about .6, but I may be wrong on that.

Once you choose your rate, hold the enter button untill it starts to check the battery. It will give you two numbers, and if those numbers match, hit enter again to begin charging.

Re: How to charge LiPo battery??

Yeah LiPo's can explode and burn your house down. The chances of them doing it if you are charging them correctly are very low. However the more afraid of them you are the better. It's a good idea never to leave them charging unattended.

There was a study on some NZ TVshow after some model aeroplane users burned their workshop down because they were balance charging their batteries unattended. They had previously crashed one of their planes and hurt the battery. The show then did a drop-test from head height onto concrete for several lipo batteries and 50% of them caught fire whilst charging.

So yeah, these things are serious biz and you should treat them with care. Don't let Poncho near them if you want to live.
