New Recruit

Hi guys,

I am totally new to airsoft having played paintball some years ago in the UK and now time to get back in to things. Looks like Airsoft is much better from what i have seen and looking to join the club.

Can anyone advise me on what would be the best pistol to be getting that will last me? I would be keen to at least have my own pistol for use when i join in.

Any help on the gear i would need would be gratefully appreciated, as all the stuff i had for paintball is now long gone and now things are somewhat different....

Ta

Re: New Recruit

As far as pistols go, marui is probably the most reliable brand, although there are probably some others out there. I don't want to volunteer anyones pistol, but I'm sure the guys wouldn't have a problem with you firing a few shots on the range to get a feel for what you like.

We have hire gear available for new comers. For $20 you get a gun (G36), a hit marker, eye protection and enough ammo to last you the day, so you don't have to worry about bringing the mandatory stuff on your first day.
Quick breakdown of gear.

Eye protection (not optional)
Most safety glasses will do fine, such as ones from bunnings. You can also get them from online retailers such as ehobby asia, wgcshop, thearmory(nz online retailer) or asgc(nz online retailer).
Any goggles you want to try out will more than likely be stress tested before you can game with them.

Hit marker (not optional)
Basically an orange bit of fabric that you pull out when you get hit. Stops you getting hit by someone who doesn't know you've been hit.
You can scrap up something for yourself if you want, or they can be purchased from the club ($10 I believe).

Whistle (not optional)
Any old thing will do. This is just a safety requirement, something that can be used to get attention quickly in case of emergency.

Camo
There isn't much consistency with what we wear. We have digital woodland, flectarn, multicam etc. You can come out to a game to see what you like the look of.

Once you come out for a game or two, you will be able to see what the rest of the guys have, such as guns, camo, radios etc.

As long as you are over 16 (16 with a parental consent form, or 18), you can play four free games, after which you can apply for membership.

Hope to see you out on the field!

Re: New Recruit

Not sure what everyone else is using, but I have a puxing (This one, I'm pretty sure http://www.409shop.com/409shop_product.php?id=101761).

They do require some reprogramming to get them working. No clue as to who can do this for you, I'm afraid.

Re: New Recruit

If you buy a puxing radio, you can program them yourself. A member DrDee bought one and manunally programmed in the first 20 channels. We operate over the 40 public channels that most radios in NZ use.

And yeah, marui pistols are the way to go, they're a bit more pricey than most others. Socom Gear and WE makes some nice ones too. As far as performance goes, Marui Hi-Capas, 1911s and Sigs are the most reliable. I have a marui PX4 which is a relatively new release. It shoots great but has not stood the test of time yet.

Re: New Recruit

As above I recommend coming out, having a game and checking out members gear before buying anything. You may see something you really like that you hadn't considered before.

A good cheap local place for accessories like glasses/goggles that deliver nice and quick are:
http://www.eoutlet.co.nz/catalog/index.php

But I wouldn't touch the uniforms, clone stuff that you will rip the crotch out in the first game, these guys cant be beaten for price as it is genuine military stuff and if you shop wisely you can get full camo set for less than $80 and it will last you a bloody lifetime:

Consider whether you want just a mix of cool gear that you like the look of (ala merc) or if you want to do an 'impression' of a specific group/force. I personally try and portray modern Russian military with correct gear, its what spins my wheels (but can be a tad more expensive).

Most of the guys at TAG are great, the rest you can just shoot really hard!

Re: New Recruit

To book hire gear, post in this thread (viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7241) saying you're keen to come along and you'd like a club gun. I don't think they have all been booked out yet, so you should be in luck.

This weeks game will be held at the CQB facility. Its over here:
http://maps.google.co.nz/maps/ms?ie=UTF ... e&t=h&z=19

Just wait outside. The gates open up at around 8:45, so if you are there on time you will be waiting with everyone else. If you're a bit later (try not to be any later than 9:00) you might have to wait around for someone to check for latecomers. If you have Spawns cell number you could probably txt him if you're out there on your own.

Oh, also should note that gear hire is $20 for the day, and there is an additional charge of $10 for use of the facility. The $10 charge is only for the CQB facility that we hire and doesn't have to be paid on weeks where we play on our green field.

These 2 places are the best for pistols and segs in nz . you will save your self a bit of cash if you buy from over seas tho ie .

http://hobbyeshop.com/eshop/index.php?cPath=93
http://echigoya-guns.com/guns/index.php ... ry&path=51
there are many more over seas retailers out there and of course gun city like we talked about . :D
