Combat Shirts and Bigger Blokes.

Hi fellas,

I'm just curious as to how many of you guys out there wear sizes larger than 2XL and feel disappointed that a lot of tac clothing manufacturers fail to have specialized items like combat shirts (particularly given their moisture wicking capabilities/ease of wear under load bearing vests or plate carriers) in larger sizes.
Well apparently I've found one, though they aren't based in asia, nor the US. They're actually based in the Netherlands and go by the name Applied Orange.
These guys sell what is known as the FR-UBAX (url provided was for their Coyote version) range of combat shirts that are apparently gaining in popularity for their high quality across europe and the UK, and as such you'd be expecting to pay a tad more than your chinese made version.
Currently, these usually retail for around 155 Euros including VAT (in the normal size range up to 2XL, although in the email I received the guy quoted 165 Euros but this is due to them charging more for licensed camo pattern versions), but given our location they'd take 21% off that price.
4XL and 5XL respectively are 195 Euros, but with the 21% taken off it ends up being 154.05 euros, or roughly $236 NZD which definitely is rather steep for a shirt.
But I thought I'd throw it out there for those who might be interested.

At the moment I'm considering putting through a order for one or perhaps two shirts in ATACS FG pattern

which would be the one on the left (right-most is ATACS AU or Arid Urban, which might not be appropriate for NZ locations.)
Currently the only other camo pattern they offer is MutliCam, so ATACS FG seems a good a choice as any (plus it also sports a nifty digital pattern, though not overly similar to MARPAT I guess.)

Anywho, thanks for those who actually read the entire post :)

The website that I was pointed to that do good quality stuff is http://www.acu.com and after having a quick look most of their stuff goes up to 4XL. You may or may not already know about this site, just throwing in my 2 cents worth.

On a side note, I have gathered that most people don't like MutliCam, am I correct in thinking this? And if so, why?

ACU.com is all good.

Multicam is perfectly fine, It's just a matter of personal preference. Globally, Multicam is a bit of a fad at the moment and it is better suited to lighter/arid environments - possibly the reason why you don't see it at our club.

Also, genuine Multicam is generally pretty expensive and I wouldn't touch any china made BDUs anymore.

Aye, good website but it's a damn shame that like most others they don't offer Combat Shirts in anything larger than 2XL, though there might be a possibility they could organize custom sizing. But one would assume it wouldn't be cheap, if they even offer that at all (would likely have to be done directly through Propper themselves.)
You could argue getting a ACU cut shirt (or BDU) would be sufficient, and perhaps so. Particularly given combat shirts are pretty form fitting so if your not in reasonable shape/average build/buff/whatever it might be a issue if self-image is a problem. Otherwise there are plenty of benefits in using a Combat Shirt over a ACU/BDU cut one.

Probably more a question of preference I guess, though I suppose in the short term getting a ACU cut shirt in FG-ATACS would at least complete my uniform part as I already have the trousers as of today (apart from perhaps needing a new pair of sturdy combat boots, I'm looking at these currently.)
