Pistol upgrades - Worth it???

Hey guys

Looking at buying a Marui Sig Sauer P226 off UN Company website and have noticed some custom editions of this gun which have "Accurate barrel", "high flow valve" and "Enhanced recoil and hammer spring". My question is :

Is it worth paying extra for these upgraded pistol parts? Do they have a considerable effect on the weapon when compared to a standard setup??

Would like to hear any opinions you guys have.

Thanks in advance

Adam :)

Each of the above upgrades will have a different effect on the gun, some good some not so good.

The high flow valves release more gas from the magazine every time you fire. This will decrease the amount of shots you can get per magazine but you should get a higher FPS.

The Accurate barrel may give you a small increase in accuracy but it will probably be negligible. If it is a tightbore you will also get a increased FPS.

So it is more personal perference as to what parts you want. You dont really need them right away but if you do decide you want them later they are easy enough to fit. Also I believe that Nematode and possibly ZeroAhplaOne have 226's so they might let you have a play before you buy if you ask nicely :)

Hope that helps.

good points Mouse. One thing to note is enhanced recoil springs and hiflow valves SHOULD NOT be installed without a metal slide at the very least.

Accurate barrel is a total waste of time. Barrel is so short it wouldn't even matter. In fact accurate barrels in general for anything i think are a waste of time. I've never used one, and most people who do experiance issues of one kind or another (feeding problems, shots going left or right or overhopping)

Manley,
I'm more than happy to elaborate.

it's more of a package thing. Once you install the recoil and hammer spring, the slide is harder to move back. Thus you need to install a high flow valve to increase the amount of gas per shot. Unfortunately plastic slides do not like high flow valves and tend to crack and in some cases completely blow apart.

As an example i installed the 150% recoil and hammer spring set in my old Mk23 and it wouldn't actually push the hammer back after each shot properly which caused some missfeeds

If you really want a top notch gun, you can go for a full metal one. However you should also check out the KJW Sig P226 and P229

229 is a really nice looking piece

Happy to let you have a play with my TM SIG P226, the only part in it that is non standard is a metal outer barrel (makes no difference to the performance, just the looks).

It runs well, is easy to clean and looks damned good :D
