ok i read on airsoftnz.co.nz that queensland are getting new legislation to allow all airsoft guns. is there anything like this been tryed in new zealand and if not , is it worth someone giving it a go.

Thanks to the hard work done by the members / reps of ASNZS we can now import SOME Airsoft Weapons.

I would say thats a great start

Full Auto looks like will never happen as the NZ Police don't like this.

But hey our sport lives on. So we all win anyway. Semi Weapons are just as good once you get use to it.

i'd say it's pretty good actually, it makes being a sniper that much more feasible
and it gives newer players (like me) that come in with only a pistol a chance.
nothing more discouraging that having a massive disadvantage when you first start. *bang* *bang* oh crud *duck* *zip zip zip zip zipzipzipzipZIPZIPZIPZIPZIPZIP* "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
plus, like brad said, having an seg is probably just as good once you get used to it, i can't speak from experience though, never owned either, but i can imagine that having to pull your trigger really fast many times isn't that much harder to get used to

Importing airsoft (BB) firearms into Australia

The importation of airsoft (BB) firearms is restricted under the Customs (Prohibited Imports)
Regulations 1956.

In order to import this type of firearm, the importer will need to comply with the Regulations by
seeking written approval to import from the relevant State or Territory Firearms Registry, prior to
the goods arrival in Australia.

To import the airsoft (BB) firearm, the importer will need to obtain one of following written
permissions, issued by the police in the State or Territory where the importer resides:
For a rifle, the written approval will be in the form of a B709A.
For a handgun, the written approval will be in the form of a B709D.
Ammunition imported with the firearm, will also require the written approval of the Police, and
this will be in the form of a B709A.

If manufactured after 1 January 1900, airsoft (BB) firearms are subject to safety testing and
require a unique serial number. An airsoft (BB) firearm will only be released from Customs if the
firearm passes safety testing and the importer produces the original written approval of the Police
(either B709A or B709D).

Penalty: the maximum penalty for importing these goods without import approval is a fine not
exceeding $250,000 or imprisonment for 10 years, or both.
