Hey,

I'm Charles, 33 currently in New Plymouth, looking for some info on Airsoft in the christchurch area.
In The process of moving from New Plymouth to Christchurch and plan to find a good fun airsoft club in the Christchurch area.
Already own a M4 Metal Springer and KWC M1911 Springer pistol, with the goal of an SEG eventually.

Have been looking at CSG, but noticed you guys as well. Can you tell me alittle about TAG etc, As well as what makes you different to CSG? No offense of course to either club. Just usually when multiple clubs form there is a difference.

we have a better field hahahaha personally, i have no firsthand experience with the other club, but from what i've heard, we're more focused on realism and try to take a more tactical approach to things (don't quote me on that though, like i said, no experience with the other club) you're more than welcome to just come along for a day and see how you feel about it we have club pistols that you can borrow for the day if you want to use a semi-automatic

The main difference i notice between CSG and TAG is:



We seem to like Skruwd said, realism. We only use "low cap" mags. Instead of your "high cap" mags that hold from 300+ rounds.

We seem to also have more more tactical type games. With more game types rather than just shooting at each other.

When i was last at csg, there was alot of standing around (not sure if they have solved this or not lol) Where as we seem to get geared up and wanna get into the games.

Tag also seems to have a friendly-er bunch of people with a good age bracket (18?-50+ yrs old.)

Our feild also seems to have more potention? This is also due to the hard working people like Slayer, Nem. And everyone else that helps out to build the feild into a great area to play in.

We also have a good set of rules and FPS ratings. Which we as a club put inplace to help the safety of our members and/or people wishing to join or watch to see if they like it.


I think mainly the difference is the people. We are a good bunch of guys that get along quite well. These are only some of the difference i can think of at the moment. Im sure one of the other guys will be able to help sort you out into which club you want to join.

But just come along one day and find out for your self

We play on sundays and they play on Saturdays

Well with just what you've said there, this sounds more what I'm looking for. Been interested in Airsoft for ages, but only recently decided to turn it from an armchair sport to a more get involved and have some fun sport. Did originally look at paintball, but the cost turned me off it straight away.

but am interested in getting involved for fitness(rather lack of at present hehe) and the realism side or milsim side of it interests me.

I arrive in Christchurch beginning of Feb, but prefer to get to know ppl first.

Welcome to our forums
As you have read the guys have pretty much summed up some differences, but I guess at the end of the day its what your looking for or wish to get for airsoft. I have been playing competitively now for near on 15 years and been a member of different groups during that time and would rate our group very highly.
For being structured.

Friendly (hell its like a second family at times)

Progressive (We don't sit on our arses waiting for things to happen we make them happen)

Organized: Ask around about some of the larger games and inter club games we have hosted)

Team focused (need help and advice you have only to ask and someone will answer)

But at the end of the day as the guys have said above the best way to truly find out is to come out and see us

As most of the guys have said,
We have two clubs in Christchurch, CSG and TAG (Tactical Airsoft Group)
Both clubs will welcome you.

TAG was formed by a group of EX CSG members who wanted a change and do things differently from the way they do things.

So TAG stared off with a small handful of players who worked hard on building the current Airsoft Club we have today.

We are a friendly and helpful bunch of people.

We lease a large area of forest from Environment Canterbury, at McLean's Island.
We have now moved to a bigger and better forest block, which we are currently working on rebuilding our VC Trails, Base's, Fuel Dump....etc.

From time to time CSG, TAG, NAC (Nelson) host combined 1 or 2 day games at our own fields or venues.
These events are well planed and organised, They are open to all Airsoft Clubs and players in NZ.

I hope this gives you a good idea or picture on what we do.

Sounds like an excellent setup, I dont mind putting in the hard yards to learn and progress in Airsoft, most of my knowledge at present is based around what I have learned off others and from reading shit loads, not to mention the Youtube videos. So as one could say, rather Limited.

While I have never held a firearms license(don't really want one either), the military side of things has interested me a lot, the tactics, strategies and the ability to function as a team or in a squad situation to archive a goal or objective is what interests me. What I'm looking for really is a good bunch of people, all ages, all capabilities, who enjoy the sport, enjoy having fun, but at the same time don't mind offering advice, helping out, and of course answering the so-called N00B questions when needed :p

At present my two weapons don't allow for much, as neither are electric/gas, but having to re-cock each time to fire, has taught me to duck hehe and to select targets well, for the kill as one might say.

Weapons of choice eventually would be M4 or AK74, and M14 or M21 and Sig 225 or similar. But this is a while off at present. I do however have a rather strong interest in Russian Weapons, so the AK47, 74, AKS or even the SVD do pop to mind.

The issue up here at present is New Plymouth has no Airsoft community, at all, and most players who are here have picked up there so-called skill from Counterstrike lol Not the best of learning environments.

Airsoft can be an expensive sport.
But that's up to you, as all you need is a weapon, mags, battery, camo clothes. (the basics)

The purchasing of a good reliable weapon is most important.

Clone weapons - Well I have Never owned one, as I only buy quality weapons.
I have seen a few people have issues with the clones.

Tokyo Mauri weapons - 99% Of my weapons are TM.
You generally won't have problems with this brand as they have been around for a long time and make quality products.

G&G Armament - Good looking weapons, Nicely molded bodies, Gearbox can be difficult to open due to over tightening of the screws.
The jury is still out on these weapons as most of us have had nothing to do with them until now. (Also reasonably priced / affordable)
