Keen to get started in Christchurch

Hey I’m Willy, I'm from Timaru and I’m 18. I've been looking into Airsoft for ages and I’m keen to get started. I was interested on getting my Fire arms license at 16 but that never happened and I've recently gotten interested in the sport again after a mutual friend showed me his Airsoft gear (I think he’s a member of TAG) a few weeks ago. Anyway I’m moving to Christchurch on Saturday the 7th of February to study and was hoping to join, get a feel for a few guns and I’ve heard clubs usually have armourers that they get their guns through? I'm in Christchurch on Sunday the 1st of February from around 2 or 3pm onwards but I understand that you guys finish up around then. I've done paint ball shooting a few times in Timaru which I loved and I've heard Airsoft is a lot better as far as realism, organisation, tactics etc go and defiantly looks like what I want to do. Hope to get started soon, cheers

Hi Willy good to see that you are interested.

We play pretty much every Sunday as long as we have good numbers. You are welcome to come out and have a go when you are ready. There probably wont be a game on the 8th as some of us are heading up to the Airsoft Nationals, but the week after (the 15th) there will be a game on.

You can hire a club gun and safety gear when you come out and have a look at some of the gear that our members have to see what you like.

If you have any other questions post up and we will do our best to answer them. Hope to see you on the field soon.

Sweet as sounds awesome. How much is it to hire gear? I have a pair of tramping boots that should be fine for foor wear I assume, and a pair of cammo pants and army webbing that's flooting around the house that I could use. I also have a pair of safety glasses I use to wear for engineering at school which protected against flying bits of metal from lathes, drills etc

Were abouts is it held? I read somewhere its near Christchurch Airport. And how do I go about joining? Are there any forms etc that need to be filled out prior to coming out?

Hello and Welcome Willy,

You get 4 free games before you become a member.
This allows you to check us out and see if you like our club and sport before you pay the membership fee.

I see you seem to have everything you need except a weapon. But that's cool, as Mouse said we have club weapons which you can hire from us.

If you need transport out to the game then we could possibly organize something depending on where you live.

We look forward to seeing you out in the field.

Ok that sounds good. Just wondering how much is it to hire a weapon and how much is the membership fee?

Im staying on the University Campus in Upper Riccarton, but I've got a car so I should be fine for a ride, but I'm not to farmiliar with Christchurch yet. I can find my way around the city mostly but not so much outside the city (except the highway lol) but I can get to the Airport allright.

cheers

Yeah, a marui gas blow back pistol will be ample for most games, as they do just a little less fps than the SEGs (and are more or less just as accurate).

Yea that seems to be what everyone recomends. As much as I'd love to get an SEG first, the smartest route would probley be a GBB pistol.
