Which do you find is more effective? - Red Dot sight or Iron SIght

Weighing up the risks of damage, combat effectiveness night/day/indoors/outdoors etc

ok I broke the rear sight off my m4 so replaced with with a red dot acog thing.

I think in my own personal opinion I prefered the iron sights
