How effective are ghillie suits when lying prone?

Re: Ghillie Suit

I occaisionally use a Ghillie suit in the field we play on, all I can say is it all comes down to WHERE you are lying prone. Lying in the middle of a field of light brown grass dressed in green/ dark green isnt exactly ideal. Same with lying prone in a place where your silhouette can easily be distinguished from the surrounding area. Try sticking to cover like you normally would, or staying close to bushes/trees of same or similar colour to your ghillie suit, if your ghillie suit is dark then stick to dark areas/bushes, if its a light coloured ghillie suit then stick to light areas etc.

heres a link I found really helpfull, its mainly for sniping but it does go over ghillie suits and moving in the field/stealth etc

At the end of the day on our field if you move, 99% of the time you will be spotted, although then again I have been standing or crouched next to a tree in my ghillie suit and had people look directly at me and not notice me.

Anyway i hope the above info helps, its mainly just stuff Ive learnt using my ghillie suit, the more you use it and try different ways of stealth and concealment, the more you learn. Anyway if you get shot in airsoft you come back alive a little while later anyway :D so its ok to make mistakes.

To answer your question in one sentence... A Ghillie suit is very good camoflage in almost any field if you know how to use it effectively.

Re: Ghillie Suit

Or you could just be a stealth Ninja in full kit........SCORP!!!......

Edit: or sew tassels to your normal cammo yourself!!haha....like I did. Reason being the only thing you need to do in my opinion is break the outline of an average "human form",in other words,"a wise man once told me theres no round curves in the bush", eg:head, elbow, shoulders. And otherwise it's all movement, humans from a hunters perspective seem to be almost instinctive in there reaction to movement in the bush. Teehee, just my opinion though is all trial and error. :D

Re: Ghillie Suit

Scorp is pretty invisible most of the time, I think he's secretly a wizard or something. I'd love to get a knife kill on him, it would be the ultimate achievement. But sadly I think that will never happen.
