Depending on size of the can and how often you use your pistol.
I run my gas pistol on propane, (you will need a special adapter) and a $12 bottle has lasted me.....well ever since i got into the game of airsoft nearly half a year ago.
Then again my gas pistol see's the sun about once a month, so its not exactly used often.
You should be able to get a good couple thousands rounds through your pistol with one gas tank, then again it doesnt matter its so cheap for propane anyway.
Personally, i wouldn't bother buying 'green gas' or watever, its like $30 a can and it does the same job.
The other factor on how long a can will last is the type of gun. I have a full metal gas blowback, (the receiver slides back and forth and makes a loud "Ca-Ching" sound.) It uses more gas than a non-blow back.
So it all depends on several factors.
