WWII Guns.

Hey guys, just wondering anyone ever thought about making / re-creating a WWII rifle into an airsoft variant?

Personally I love the WWII guns like the Lee Enfield's and the Japanese Arisaka guns, don't know why but there is just something about them.

Would it be worth a project build? I wouldn't have the slightest clue about what firing system to be used (gas or spring) but what are your views?

Cheers,
Omega.

I only do the German guns, I think the WWII stuff is pretty there. I am amazed really how little has changed. I can wear knee pads, 18 different types of camo, much of it reversable, so you can turn the uniform inside out & have a brown "autumn" pattern or a green "spring" patern. They have stuff that will camaflage you from the artic to Afrika. for any weather, & just about any terrain.

The guns just look the sex too.
I have a Kar 98,
a G33/40
4x MP40
an MP41
an MP44
an MG34
an MG42
2x Wather P38's
2x p08 Logers
3x m712 broomhandled Mausers

Plus another MP44, a G43 & an FG42 awaiting conversion to airsoft.

I still have to get around to making it shoot properly, I have all the instructions, just havent done it yet. Shoie will be knocking them out again soon I am sure.

Hmm, edit, seems they are on sale now, http://www.shoeiseisakusho.co.jp/ might get another for fun LOL.

Edit: Ok, thats $2600, I think I will fix mine. 8O

Wow, nice collection. Myself personally I like the Kar 98, but typically I prefer the Lee Enfield as a rifle that was used in WWII.

Yet, like in Call of Duty World at War many carbines in the game are very nice also, so I am open to suggestions!

On the side of either spring or gas, whats really best, because I know upgraded springers are hard to cock, compared to gas guns like Tanaka's rifles but what do you run in them.. propane?

Many questions... many..

I vary the gas/bolts for where I am playing & the weather. I can pretty much do steps of 20fps between the combinations of 3 bolts, 2 rifles & 2 types of gas.

I have heard folk say here that gas isint that consistent. It has not been my experience with Green Gas, & I am only on my 3rd week of Propane so to sson to tell. Certainly my imfamous reputation as a sniper stands testament to gas's consistency. But then I only use K98's so who knows across the board on other guns. You would need someone that has used many over time. I have only been sniping for part of this year so still feel pretty new to it.

The Tanaka Kar is an impressive weapon. As its most outspoken opponent I have become its most ardent follower having 3 of them, (just realised I missed one off the list, found it on my way to work this morning beside the door  ). I dont worry about jams, batteries, or the likes, I just raise point & fire & normally get 6-8 kills a mag (10bbs)

If you do order one, been damn insistent on getting the resticting bolt, as it is too hot without it. On a hot day you can push 625fps. I have the formular for hole size to get the correct fps out of it.

Unfortunately the scopses are hard to get, I brought the last 2 on sale anywhere in the world that I could find. But you can have scope rings drilled into it, & if you get the right kind it can still be authenitic looking.

I pine for the day they make G43 in gas BB, but then will have to find a club that will allow seni-auto snipers *chuckle*

You wont be able to play with it I suspect, unless you use green gas & get the shortened version, a g33/40, as you will be over the 400fps limit. Mine bounces around the 420fps during normal weather. You need to do a probationary period in TAG before you can go over the 400fps. But I am not familiar with the new sniper rules, so dont quote me on that. The difference between the Taanka Kar 98 & the Tanaka G33/40 is about 3 inches & 20fps on 20gm bb.

The Germans licenced the 98 to the Cechz, & they made a shortened version, the Germans then 'repatriated' them in 1938, they pressed them into use as G33/40 with mountain troops & SS Cavalry etc, they where deemed an elite unit weapon for want of a better word.

Thankfully they are no problem to get into the country as they are not fully automatic. I got mine form Red Wolf, & second hand here in NZ, plus one in from the states. But the Club armourer is the person to talk to about getting one. I think (if you are who I think you are - the Medic from Sunday) you will find owning one will be a little problamtic until age/law restrictions are met etc. You struck me as a better attacker & flanker than a sniper, use your youth & vigor whilst you have it. You will grow fat & bald like the rest of us in time & can then retire to the sedentry life of sniping ;)

on the bolts, the ones out of Japan have a 1 joule restriction. I drilled mine out to get around 480fps after I found no real use for gun at 300fps. The ones from other countries seem to come with a nozzel like device that you can screw into the bolt, & it restricts the volume at which the gas exits, ego lessens the fps. It is a big drop though, & to be frank its not at a very useful point. with out the nozzel you can get 625fps, (well I havent been able to, but have seen kars do it). The nozzel drops you to 425fps. Which with sniper weight bb's doesnt put you much further than electrics with 20gm bb's. 450-460 seems to be a good freshold for range vs pain factor. But you will get out sniped. Most guns on the field seem to shoot further than my kar 98 even around 480 fps. I havent fathomed why this is yet, I suspect my non use of hop up may be the cause, but I prefer speed to target & predictable tragectory to the verticle wobble you get with hop up.

man, doing a bit of typing today!

Haha, well I am well aware of age restrictions and will be waiting for the day when I am able to finally play at 16!

I suppose time will tell as I am sure my choices and opinions will change too.

Thanks for the info Adler, very much so helpful.

Cheers,
Sam / Omega.
