SEMI AUTOMATIC SNIPER RIFLES DEBATE

SEMI AUTOMATIC SNIPER RIFLES:

And more importantly there use within airsoft good and bad? And weather they do have a place within our group and if so how should they be implemented (if at all) and by what rules and controls should they be implemented.

Now before you go any further this is ONLY a debate!
It’s neither a proposal nor a planned change.
It is only for interest’s sake and nothing more, should this topic become a negative bitch fest it will be shut down!

First up and most impotently I believe is classing what we would consider a

SINPER CLASS SEMI AUTOMATIC RIFLE.

The following is my thoughts

A SINPER CLASS SEMI AUTOMATIC RIFLE should be of the following:

1. A coping of a real steal and generally undisputed true manufactured Sniper rifle.
2. Be of a length no less than 1 meter
3. Use only a LOW cap mag of no more than 50 rounds
4. Be fitted with a magnified scope
5. Be fitted with a bipod or at the least have the option of it.
6. Be of a weight so as not to be easily carried into an area of operation or used as an assault weapon.
7. have a FPS of no more than 400 fps.

There’s properly more but that’s at least a starting point.

Here is a few guns currently available that I personally feel could fit this role:

Brand A&K

i think they should be real steel guns. Other wise you could slap a scope on an m4 and upgrade it.

I agree with what you are saying classing it as a sniper and not as an assult rifle. This would also mean that a side arm would be also required
to be carried as a secondary. :D :D

Should this be a two man team Sniper + spotter. Not sure whats ya views. :D :D

Well it certainly gives some benefit to carrying around a longer heavier SEG I guess, though the debates over what is and isn't a valid sniper rifle would be will sapping (from experience).

I am not a fan of the class however as I feel it
- encourages ever higher bolt action fps limits to keep them competitive
- is hard to enforce fair use of in game
- adds more complexity to game/fps rules
- adds little to game play
- encourages a "build a bigger gun to be a better player" mentality aka The Auckland Syndrome

Good for looks and poser value, of little use in making better game days, particulary on a field that struggles to encorporate sniper weapons already.
