Gun Sugestions.

Hey guys,
i quite new to the world of airsoft but now that ive seen it, i love it! I came out on sunday, 2nd october with poncho and i absolutely loved playing. Anyway, i know that its way to early to be thinking of buying a gun, but ive found these two and im just looking for some advice. Could someone have a look over these and let me know if they are any good and what i should be looking out for etc.

First one : http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/aeg/star-hon ... t-aeg.html
With this one i quite like the thumb hole and i assume its quite an acurate gun (im more of a marksman than a assult rifle guy)
and i saw it has a very low cap magazine but i THINK its compatable with g36 mags (someone let me know)

Second one : http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/eac-aug-phan ... 50fps.html
I realy like this AUG as it looks quite accurate with the 1.5x scope and the extended barrel
its also has a realy good fps rate(350) , its what i like.

Anyway, like i said, im quite new so i dont know much so correct me on anything if im wrong.
And if you guys could let me know what you think about each gun, and which is probably better, that would be great.
thanks

Re: Gun Sugestions.

i dont really know much about the first gun, but the second gun i also wanted lol, untill i was steered clear of it by fellow members with a bit more knowledge about these things. since it is jing gong it is chinese made (really crappy). it is a really cool gun and theres nothing to stop you from getting it, but just be forewarned that the quality of the gun may not be very good. Also if you really really want the phantom you could get a good quality AUG and then buy the conversion kit to make it a phantom (least this way your gun will still be good quality). Hope this helps

Re: Gun Sugestions.

Hey man

I'd suggest playing a few more games to get to know what kind of guns people have, why they have those guns, and which brands are recurring as good brands.

A few suggestions I'd like to offer you, which were the same as when I first started airsoft, and the same for many others when they started:

1. Get to know what other people have, and the reasons why: This will allow you to get advice on maintenance and future repair work or upgrades.

2. Get something that has parts readily available, and doesn't cost an arm and a foot to purchase!
Remember reliability and quality is very important, this is why getting to know what others own is important!

3. Weight, materials, brand reputation/reviews, parts and portability are very important.

Remember that many of us all started claiming that we wanted to be snipers/marksmen etc, and in the end most of us stick to infantry type combat in airsoft as the range of these weapons make us engage targets at fairly close range, which is why the AEG is suitable.

To sum it up: I think you ought to play enough games to get a great idea on which weapons are reliable and ideal, and when you are ready, make an order with the club armorer so that your weapon will arrive safely, without the chance of customs seizure (due to semi'ing problems etc)

Re: Gun Sugestions.

Although i know almost nothing about guns myself i can give you a bit of advise about importing stuff in NZ.
If your order come to a total of over $400 NZ (including shipping) you are liable to pay 15% gst on your purchase and a $38 service fee.
So once you go over $400 the total price will jump up to $498 (additional $60 gst and $38 fee).

Just something that's helpful to be aware off when purchasing overseas and it seems very few people know about it.

Re: Gun Sugestions.

Thanks so much for the replies guys, they were really helpful. If anyone could give me their ideas on the SL8 (first one) that'd be awesome. The only other one i was considering was this one :
http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/aeg/star-hon ... t-aeg.html
Also with what Alroys said; Does the GST and service fee only apply to purchases over $400?
once again, Thanks so much for the replys guys.

I strongly disagree with this statement Rawr. even though it's chinese made. Jing Gong brand are reliable, they are like Tokyo Marui. I own a JG bar10 sniper rifle and i never ever had any issues to it. And also one of my friend from CSG has a JG Steyr Aug and he has it for 3 years and he never had any problems with it until now. From what i know most of our club guns (G36) are all JG brand. you know how awesomely they shoot as you hire them :D

@ Tech : i'd suggest to come more often on sunday before deciding what kind of gun you gonna get and what suits you.

Re: Gun Sugestions.

Some chinese airsoft guns work really well, some are really bad.

You're taking a risk buying one. I'd recomend that you come out to a couple of games and have a look at what people have got.
