Goggles?

Hey guys, I've been looking at a lot of airsoft guns lately and how I wish I could get one as soon as possible. But then I realised that I should really get some other highly necessaries before doing so. So I've set out to look for some really nice goggles and Revision has taken a lot of my interest. Especially because they offer the Asian Locusts and me being asian thought, 'Hey, I bet they fit real nicely'. I have worn different goggles for various functions and what not in the past and have noticed most of them do not fit properly (usually gaps on the side or the nose bridge).

Has anyone in the club got the Desert Locusts from Revision and how do they perform? I was looking to buy the fan model from ehobbyasia but they recently (like literally 10minutes ago) sold out of the asian locust fan model. Is a fan really necessary? I tend to sweat a bit (unfit as hell >_>) and get hot really easily.
I don't have the money to go buy one willy nilly right now and have to save up, so should I just wait until they have the fan model back or get a normal one and hope they don't fog me to death?

Would be nice to get people's experiences with goggles (Espeicially Revision Fan and non-fan models). All the reviews I read about most goggles tend to follow the same pattern of 'They're great, they don't fog, buy them!' to 'They fog within a minute and unusable, don't buy!', even with the Revision goggles.

Sorry if some things don't make sense or seem unorganized, but I just worked two shifts beginning 5am and finished 10pm, so I'm very very tired =/

Re: Goggles?

I don't own the Revision goggles, but I do own a pair of these. The fan is pretty bloody awesome at taking away fog, and for the price of the Revision ones I would expect them to do the same.

What ever you decide, you may also want to consider getting yourself some Ops Drops. Quite a few of us in the club use this stuff and it takes an exceptionally hot/humid day for them to fail.

I also have a pair of these, which gave me a full day of fog free playing on Sunday. Ill let you know how the ops drops go on them next week.

There is always the option of mesh googles, which don't fog but are slightly less advantageous in darker areas.

Re: Goggles?

Revision used to make exact clones of the ESS Goggles which Sneakers linked. They seem to be making their own style now and selling it for three times the price. I'm sure that the Asian fit ones will fit the same as the Asian fit ESS goggles which none of us have. I think you should try on our ESS goggles first to see if they're ok.

Also those ESS glases Sneakers linked are good also, you can get them off ebay for around 40-60 dollars shipped once you find someone who will ship it to you. About five people have these at the club, as they're cheap.

Re: Goggles?

I would second the ESS Crossbows as an awesome and relatively cheap set of glasses.

A few people in the club seem to wear their fan goggles at CQB, which can involve a bit more action, therefor sweat.

I have the Crossbows, and even at CQB (with some OpDrops), they rarely fog. Cheap replacement parts for them too!

Re: Goggles?

Thanks guys, I'll definitely check them out.
Where did you guys get your ESS from? So far I can only see them for sale at the ESS official site and a few american sites that like to make you pay an arm for shipping.

What about the goggles? I think I'm looking to get goggles first and glasses second.

Thanks for the YouShop link Reaper, didn't know such a thing existed. Don't really know how it works but I'm looking into it right now :D

Re: Goggles?

ESS also do a range called ICE which they offer a NARO version. Which if you haven't guessed already, is a narrower fit version.
http://www.esseyepro.com/ESS-Introduces-ICE-NAROandtrade%3B-Eyeshield_8_news.html

I bought mine from http://www.cadetdirect.com/order1.php?pg=3160

These, like most ESS products, come with an anti-fog cloth which has a similar thing to the op-drops Sneakers mentioned, built into it. I've owned, and still own a few different goggles and find the glasses to be the best choice.

I do however, have a pair of brand new, unused ess replicas if you're interested in buying them to see how you get on with them etc. Flick me a PM if you're interested.

Well, I can't really use them straight away because I need contacts or an RX carrier for prescription lenses =/

Re: Goggles?

So I've narrowed it down to either Revision or ESS fan models and in the end I personally think there are not much differences between the two except prices. They both will stop bullets therefore BBs, they both have fans, they both are made by reputable companies that supply the US military, they both come in asian fit models.
Here is the two I'm thinking of getting and would be around the same price.

Revision Asian Locust Fan Deluxe Kit from ehobbyasia.com = $199.99 US + $23.00 US 3-5 day shipping -10% discount (totalling ~$240NZD including discount)
http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/revision-asi ... -lens.html

ESS Profile Fit Asian Fit Turbofan (Basic Kit) from ebay.com = $149.04 US + $39.99 7-11 day shipping (totalling ~$225NZD)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/261189594155

I'm leaning more towards the Revision as you get a lot more for about the same price. I guess you get what you pay for, but in the end, they are both goggles that protect your eye and have extra anti-fogging measures (fans) and from what I've heard from both models, they will fog sooner or later and it can usually be fixed by taking the foam off the vents or using products like Ops Drops Sneakers mentioned.

Anyways, any thoughts on the two?

Re: Goggles?

Nah man. The lenses in the ESS are much nicer and won't flare up in the sun. The revision is just a cheap chinese knockoff of the ESS goggles.

For 20 dollars more I'd get the ESS. You should get clear lenses, dark lenses and a carry bag thing.

Someone on ASNZ is selling 2nd hand Turbofans for 80 dollars. If you want I can get those for you and you just order some new lenses.

I don't believe those are the Asian fit.

Re: Goggles?

If someone has ESS on Sunday's game, maybe I could try them on just to see how they fit? I would be stoked if I could get some nice goggles for a lot cheaper :D

Revision isn't a chinese ESS knock off - they are a legit tactical eyeware company from the US: http://www.revisionmilitary.com/

Goes to show how knockoffs can tarnish the reputation of a company.
