GBB AK Recommendations

Hey team,

Some of you may know that my GHK AK is a complete POS, quite unreliable.
I have submitted it back under warranty.

I am looking at getting another gun, ideally another GBB AK.
I know that everyone will scream at me about getting only TM; however, I would have to import these, and that's kinda aids. I would also grab a TM AK102 EBB if there were any left in the country. I am, however, swaying towards waiting for another one to be imported by a local retailer.

If this won't happen for the foreseeable future, then I have to go down other routes, but I do want to stay on GBB if possible.

Does anyone have any recommendations for decent, reliable GBB AK74Ms, or AK74Us?
Something that would be reliable, especially when away at interclubs, milsims etc.

Cheers legends.

Re: GBB AK Recommendations

Yow Bossman,

*TM is best out of the box, no doubt. Go for it if you want to pewpew in peace and harmony.

*VFC AK (the GHK AK V3 GBB Killer. Released 2025) have better reviews and available in NZ market

As a GHK AK owner AK-74M 3yrs and AKS-74U 2yrs

*GHK V2 AK is a struggle. Not gonna lie. Its like having an 80’s Nintendo Entertainment System, you enjoy more fixing that $tooped thing than playing it

But once upgraded with Tender, love and care with a little bit of harsh hammering, it’s BLYATIFUL :P  8)

I did my research on GHK before buying so I know what to expect. I also asked reviews from MY PEOPLE  in Philippines where many of them are GHK AK GBB V2 users.

TM AKX released March 2023 if not mistaken. But my mind set to GHK AK and bought it May 2023.

Upgrades:

^RA-TeCH NPAS- ~100$

^HEPHAESTUS
-bolt carrier- ~180$
-guide rod- ~80$
-recoil spring- ~60$
-fire control group- ~100$

^maple leaf hop up unit and tightbore inner barrel- ~150$

I got them online WGC. Samoon or Sixmm also good just check the stock availability

Cost of these upgrades for both my AK almost equivalent to 1 TM GBB AKX

Re: GBB AK Recommendations

Hey Bro!

I really appreciate all the details there 100%

My plan at this point in time is when I get it back from warranty, to run it for 2-3 months before I upgrade, just to rebuild my own trust in the thing, but to also see if the issues occur again.

If everything is sweet, im likely to go ahead with the upgrades mentoned 100%.

For context, whats been happening is that it will quite often fail to feed a BB, or it will like hang fire, not shoot and then I need to whip the mag out and let the loose BB out, it also loves spewing the gas out of my mags, even when its quite hot outside and this will be on the first 1-2 shots. It will also just have no action on the trigger pull (not because of a dead trigger following an empty mag). Kinda cool. I've had a few other fellas use it and have the same issues now as well, trying to rule out user error. But we will see what the warranty folk say.

I was also eying that VFC AK up. Have also heard much better things about the VFCs in general.
