Not that Noob

Hello guys
I am Carlos (Knight). I am from Chile, and I am living in Blenheim, ill be here for a wile... I used to play Airsoft in Chile, (http://www.airsoftchile.cl), and I was in a team (7th Cavalry), I was one of the guys in the team who arrange the team and took care of the regulations in the field during the games, like a referee. Well I want to play again.
How is the thing here in New Zealand? Do you have teams? or just a big community of people that plays together? Can anyone explain me hoy it works here plz?

Thank you very much

Knight

Ps: Here is the Logo of my ex team (I did designed it back in those days :P)

Re: Not that Noob

Hi Carlos, welcome to NZ.

Airsoft in New Zealand is played in regionally based clubs, sort of like teams but usually having their own fields etc rather than playing on commercial fields.

Up your way there are two clubs, one based in Nelson (NAC) and one in Blenheim (MAC) that is just starting out. The Blenheim players generally head over to Nelson for their games as they don't have the numbers to run their own games yet.

If you make contact with NAC they will be able to get you sorted http://www.asnz.co.nz/nac/

We have a group travelling up to Nelson for Queens Birthday weekend for a big game up there, it would be a good event for you to attend if you are able as you will meet airsofters from all over the top half of the south island.

Thank you for your answer. Can you direct me a little bit with the regulations here in NZ? do I have to do something special to play airsoft? or just get my Airsoft gun and play? I read something about "Firearms endorcement"? What do I have to do?

Thank you

Re: Not that Noob

If you are 18 or older you require no license to own an airsoft gun, if you are 16 or 17 you require a full Firearms License to own airsoft guns.

Fully automatic airsoft guns are illegal in New Zealand however so all guns here have to be converted to semi auto only prior to importation.

Each club has its own rules regarding minimum player ages, at TAG we don't allow anybody younger than 16 to play, some clubs allow 12 year olds and up.

Thank you for answer to me.
Now everything is clearer. Now, do you have some advise to buy gear? like the clothes to play, where to buy some classic army eye protection?, and if here in NZ they sell 2nd hand army clothes? back in my country theres a place where you can buy all that stuff 2nd handed.

Trademe isn't too bad, there is a lot of Chinese reproduction stuff on there that is overpriced but generally you can pick up kiwi and British stuff cheap enough.

Kiwi Disposals in Christchurch or Auckland is worth a visit, there is a place in Wellington too.

Second hand stuff often comes up on ASNZ for reasonable prices or you can import stuff from overseas.
