Bladerunners new gun project

Image

In 1944, Erma, the main MP 40 producer submitted the EMP 44. The receiver was produced out of welded steel tubing like the Sten. The flash suppressor was formed in the same manner as the Russian machine pistol PPS43muzzle brake from stamped steel. The EMP 44 was not rejected due to its failure to pass acceptance tests, it was rejected due to its cheap look but mainly because new weapons like the MP 43 were already produced with the goal to replace both the MP 40 and the K 98.

Even at this stage of the war the Germans were picky about what they built

Fritz the German got a nasty surprise when he discovered that the "new submachine gun" he had just been issued was in fact a sash cramp.

thats interesting.. the MP44 was also rejected by Hitler because he didn't like the look of it's "stamped" steel receiver... however his generals ignored him and went behind is back to get it made anyway

That was the STG 43 Acey, they renamed it (MP44) & snuck it by him a year later.

Really have to agree with that! So many nice guns... why not an MP40 with a bent barrel so I can shoot around corners into the base
