Sniperage :P

hey guys, i'm interested in sniping, but i don't want to jump into buying a sniper rifle without actually knowing what it's like so if someone didn't mind, i was wondering if i could maybe borrow theirs for a game or two this weekend, just to see what it's like :)

anyone have anything to say about playing as a sniper? any comments/advice/thoughts would be nice :)

i've been reading online a lot about the beautiful art of schniping recently :P and i had a few questions to ask all you snipers out there.
As i read in the rules, i'd be allowed a max of 400 fps which works for me, i can understand why lol. but i'm veering off topic here.

my main reason for posting was to ask another question about bb weights. I've read on a lot of places that if a rifle shoots .2g bbs @ 400 fps, then the best weight to go for would be a .3 or .29g bb for the best balance between accuracy and range, is this true? if so, then exactly how far are we looking at? i would think using bbs of those weights would drop the muzzle velocity to something like 320, if i'm guessing right. how much range would that get me in that situation?

I use a TM VSR G Spec. (Upgraded to 400FPS)
http://www.uncompany.com/pageproductdet ... rodid=3653

I currently use Strait .36grm BB's
(UN Company recommend these, But they are $15.00 US per bag for 1000)

They can travel between 30-40 meters. (depending on the conditions)

My VSR is set up at 400fps, but that drops with me using .36grm BB's.

In the near future I will be trialing some .28 BB's and .30grm BB's to see what the accuracy is like.
The lighter the BB's the more they are effected by the wind and vegetation.

By the way my VSR is very accurate. Or its a combination of the following three, Great Rifle, Good Sniper, Best Suited BB's for its operation.

I personally won't upgrade any Sniper Rifle over 400FPS. As I feel that's more than enough power to do its job.

You have to weigh up things like - the risk of injuring someone verse having the gruntyist Sniper Rifle on the field.

We don't want people getting pissed off ! Our sport is about all us having fun and doing so safely. :)

think you'll find Shane your's is doing 420fps [130 spring]

thats what mine is doing and I use .28 toyjet BB's which seem alright. Need a new bucking though.

also, i was thinking of getting the jg bar 10, which, in essence, is a vsr-10 clone. but then there's the debate of g spec vs normal one. i've heard reports of the g spec (the one with the scope) being slightly worse off in terms of accuracy (and power as well i think) because it has a shorter inner barrel length. but i'm eventually going to need a scope anyways right? is it worth the extra 40 USD to get the scoped version that isn't as good a performer? or the better rated and cheaper (i'm talking two thirds the price) than the scoped one, but has no rail to attach a scope to =\ if i do decide to get the one without a scope and get a scope at a later date, how would i attach it? O_O

edit: oh and does the silencer actually work? the one that comes with the g spec. i've actually been reading up on how to silence the guns as much as possible, like filling the stock with foam and whatnot, stuff of the like :P anyone ever tried it?

For Your Info

JG Bar 10 Sniper Rifle + Scope (Clone of a TM G Spec)

Battlesoft only sells high quality products, we are 100% Kiwi owned and operated, don't be mislead by cheap imitations, if it seems too cheap - it probably is!

This is a clone of a Marui VSR G-Spec, but much cheaper and comes with a scope! This gun was ordered for a customer but the sale was not completed. There is a couple of marks on the outer barrel, which do not affect the operation of the gun at all, and are only really noticable on close inspection. It came from the factory like this.

The scope is amazing and worth a mention. As well as being fully adjustable left, right, up and down, it also has 3x-9x zoom and illumination (red).

The gun is currently fully assembled, i would prefer not to have to break it back down, as building it was not easy, there are some very small parts. Whilst we will endevour to package it so it wont be damaged, pick up would be preferable, and shipping would be at the customers risk.

Build Material:
- Metal & ABS

Magazine Capacity:
