I will explain in more detail later, unless Flazz beats me to it. But I did just want to say that they are the best, not even just personal preference.

Quickly, basically everything else is a clone of TM. They did it first and best.

Please refer to my previous post where I state that the other ones are shit. It's funny because you'd think that companies would know how to not make stuff that isn't shit, but most of them don't.

If you buy a WE/Socom Gear/WA/KSC pistol. Chances are it won't work 4 months down the line (assuming you aren't a chairsofter who never plays). They just break easily, have poor accuracy after a short time, don't cycle properly and vent gas. The mags also start leaking irreparably.

I bought a WE PX4 (for spare parts for my TM PX4 because I lost the front sight) and it didn't even fire a single shot out of the box. Some WE pistols work awesomely, but a lot of them don't.

Re: Thoughts on the Socom Gear Punisher 1911?

Thanks for clearing that up a bit more for me Eda and Flazzbog!

I wasn't sure if it was more of a Pepsi vs. Coke thing, or if Tokyo Marui really is the top brand for GBB pistols.
I was looking at getting a WE Baby Hi-Capa 3.8 as I like the size, look, full metal construction and it isn't too pricey - but I don't want to be running into big issues (especially if they are costly ones) down the line with it, and from what I have read WE pistols do have a slight reputation for that.

If I was to get a Tokyo Marui then I was leaning towards the TM Hight-Capa 4.3 Duel Stainless. My first thought that made me question it though as the ABS slide? I hear you can replace it for a metal m1911 one off another model, but was wondering why it is ABS and not metal in the first place if they are producing the best made guns in their class?

(Just a side note, I am very new to Airsoft and so please forgive my ignorance! )

Re: Thoughts on the Socom Gear Punisher 1911?

Correct me if I'm wrong (because on some basic state of reality, I always am) But I think a lot of the time TM make most of their guns out of metal, save for the slide. Having it made of something lighter then metal but just as tough aids the Blow back action. If it were all metal chances are it's going to be heavier, and will require a bigger shot of gas to move the mass. If you see some GBB with long very sluggish like blow back action I'd say that's the reason.

Was I close? or completely off?? :?:

Re: Thoughts on the Socom Gear Punisher 1911?

TM makes mostly all plastic save a few aegs I believe.

You can change the slide to a metal one but is goin to wear your gun down faster and will probably need to invest in more parts sooner than later.

I'm starting to think full metal guns are overrated, especially for pistols. Sure they look, feel and sound awesome but generally end up being ornaments to show off. I know I'll be upgrading to a plastic fantastic TM soon as my WE full metal is all looks 0 useability. And I'm not about to spend money on upgrades when you can just buy a well made gun.

Then again, getting a sub par gun and playing around with it is no mistake either. Still a lot of fun to shoot :P

hey man I would go TM pistols as they are the better choice I had a socom gear 1911 it was great for the first few months but then parts started to break and wear.
I also had a TM glock 17c 3 months before and it out performed 1911 but far and the parts never broke on me.

Re: Thoughts on the Socom Gear Punisher 1911?

For the record I've had no real problems with my WE Hi-capa that weren't caused by me dropping it or neglecting to maintain it properly. Accuracy seems to be on par with the average TM pistol.
Then again I've probably put less than 500 bbs through it (does that qualify me as a chairsofter Flazz? :P)

Having said that... anyone wanna buy it so I can upgrade to a TM?
