First AEG: I know you said to get a Marui...

So I talked to some of you on Sunday and yall said buy a Marui Recoil Shock, which are totally awesome. Problem is, I kinda want a Bushmaster ACR/Magpul Masada. The only people that make them are Magpul, G&P, and A&K. I've also read a bit about PolarStar Fusion Engines, so I thought I might get a Masada and then swap in a PolarStar later sometime.

Magpul offer the Masada at two price points, $450 US and $290 US for a ghetto cheap one with lower build quality and cheaper materials (same internals though, I think). The G&P Custom Masada is $323 US, and the A&K Masada is $210-ish.

Anybody have any experience with the various brands listed? Any thoughts on the PolarStar system?

Re: First AEG: I know you said to get a Marui...

Not sure about the externals of the A&k but im assuming the internals would be rubbish and would need redoing.
I think the G&P one is just the a&k body with a G&P gearbox and motor.
The Magpul has nice externals but horrid internals, the one i have seen haves lots of issues out of the box.

So the only one i would really consider buying is the G&P, unless you feel like redoing the internals and assuming this is your first gun im sure you want something that works well out of the box.

I do like the Marui DEVGRU HK416, i just prefer the Masada. I might save it for a later time, then, if all the options are so bad.

edit: I also don't mind doing some work out of the box, as long as it all works out to a decent price. The Magpul/PolarStar option is expensive in one hit, but if the Magpul internals could last a few months before I needed to replace them, that'd be fine with me.

I've not work on a Masada, but a few of the ones I've seen had an incurable case of "bbs fall out the barrel all the time".

I'm sure we could get one semi-decent with a bit of work though. The magpul one will look the nicest and you can always replace any shit internals. But you should get a TM because they're good.

Get both, then you'll be happy :)

But for a first gun, if you don't mind a bit of a spend, the Marui DEVGRU will definitely be your best bet. Can always buy fun-guns later.

Yeah, that does seem to be one way to go. Did Magpul go through with the discontinuation of their PTS line? I'll be sour if I get a Marui now and by the time I get the Magpul there aren't any left :(

Alright, other stuff too: Where should I buy camo, vests, goggles etc. from? Is there a decent milsurp shop in/around Christchurch? Is there a particular camo pattern most everyone at TAG uses? If not I might just run Multicam or something since it's easy to find gear in that pattern.

Re: First AEG: I know you said to get a Marui...

You can get goggles and small items from sites like ASGC or The Armory. Those are the two main NZ stores. Things might be a little bit cheaper coming out of China, so you might also want to look at ehobby[url] or [url=www.wgcshop.com]WGC. There are others of course, but these are the main ones. Google will be your friend.

As for camo in Christchurch, I don't think there is much available now that Kiwi Disposals went down. You can probably pick up some DPM from TradeMe or one of the Chinese stores. If things are cheap, it probably means they are. Cheap camo not only looks shit (it fades super quick) but you will probably rip the crotch in the first few weeks. If you're willing to spend a bit more coin, some of us have grabbed our camo from ACU. I bought mine here. No regrets.

As for vests, you can get those from New Zealand or China. The two main brands are Flyye and Pantac. There's a guy that deals with Pantac on Airsoft New Zealand (ASNZ) that you can get in touch with at some point, or you can get Flyye from ehobby. Google can be your friend here also.

About half of tag wears marpat, but anything will really do.

http://www.kiwidisposals.co.nz/ is based in chch, but is online only and they only really have Brit DPM.
Id recommend ether buying something of acu.com or getting used surplus camo as then you end up with decent quality.
Basically just avoid cheap camo unless is surplus.

Also for flyye gear i would recommend http://www.shootercbgear.com/, slightly cheaper than ehobby but more importantly they seems to have alot better stock, ehobby always seems to be out of the flyye gear i want.

Re: First AEG: I know you said to get a Marui...

Bought: Flyye MOLLE RRV Vest from Shooter Combat Gear, two PANTAC M4 pouches and a pair of Bolle X800T Tactical goggles from WGC Shop, and a set of MARPAT BDU's from ACU.com. Vest and pouches are in Coyote Brown.

I figured this was all the most immediately critical stuff, I still have a pair of gloves lying around from my Army days and I didn't want to waste money on crap knee pads so I'll wait until I can find some Bijans.

You did good! Except the bolle swat goggles fog up a bit. You should look for the clone Turbofan ESS googles that a lot of people use. They have built in fans and aren't huge monster retard glasses either.

Yeah I've had the Bolle's before, they're alright-ish. I'll replace them later with something better.

Hey Flazz, does Magpul PTS furniture fit onto Marui Next Gen blowback M4's/HK416s?
